Closed due to fire
Finger Lakes Laser is temporarily closed following a devastating fire, resulting in a complete loss. However, we are deeply thankful and humbled by the outpouring of donations and support from the community. Despite this setback, we remain committed to rebuilding even bigger and better, and we look forward to reopening soon to continue serving and connecting with our valued customers in the Finger Lakes region.
How it started
The fire at Finger Lakes Laser originated during a late-night work session, where the owner was engrossed in cutting acrylic drink chips while simultaneously designing other orders on the computer. Sparks from the laser cutting process likely ignited the fire, which quickly spread and intensified. By the time the exhaust fan stopped functioning, the flames had grown too large, rapidly filling the small shop with toxic fumes. Despite attempts with a fire extinguisher, the blaze became uncontrollable. Regrettably, the entire establishment was lost in the fire. Fortunately, the owner escaped with minor burns to the head and hands, along with some smoke inhalation. This incident underscores the importance of maintaining workplace safety, even in the pursuit of creative endeavors.
The future of Finger Lakes Laser
Finger Lakes Laser is currently in the process of collaborating with insurance providers to clear out the debris left in the aftermath of the fire and embark on a journey of rebuilding. The vision is to not only reconstruct the establishment but to do so with newer, state-of-the-art equipment that reflects the latest technological advancements. Additionally, a robust focus on safety is being implemented, with the integration of state-of-the-art fire suppression systems to ensure that such a devastating incident does not occur again in the future. The commitment to innovation and safety underscores Finger Lakes Laser's dedication to providing a secure and cutting-edge environment for both its team and the community it serves.
